That might be a pretty good idea... I see a 57 chevy in there that might work good... I'll take a look around the internet to see what I can find
Thank You for the Great Idea
Besides I need to search out some more Hot Rod Cars with the chrome blower motors sticking out of the hood... to go along with my other cars and sigs you've made me. You can use the same cars over for different sayings too... but I should stay on the same subject of replacing folders with Hot Rods... Great Idea

The two singles up there I have sized to fit the space they must fit into. The one you like. Would it be this one? I have also resized it to fit If you don't like these, you need to look for small cars. You will find them under Cars, Icons. If you try to resize images that are too large, they lose their resolution.

What are the dimensions of the folders, or the dimensions of the images I need to make?

Oh!! You know how to make them?? That's cool. I didn't know you knew how. The height is the most critical measure and I try to keep it no more than 50px.
The folders are 32x32 PX. Much too small for a car.
The width is as wide as it is visually acceptable to you. It will stretch the space to accommodate the image. Do you have an art program where you can manipulate the size?
But wait. You said you use IE as your browser and I know you can resize images in IE.

For editing images I use Corel PaintShop Pro X8 which has way more tools than I know how to use. But I stated out with an image that has been too small for me to use on anything else, besides it's a little more conservative and maybe a relaxed feeling for visitors, instead of my usual Wild ones that I like to use, but that can be changed as we go along.
So I started with this image that was already 101 x 50 and I thought it looked to big. Not only that but it is sort of driving away from the thread, so I flipped it to point the other direction as driving toward the thread (I way over think some of this stuff)
And I resized after I flipped it, I shortened it by 10px to 81 x 40, image below, and that looked better in the column
But I thought I might as well try 32px tall, so I resized it again to 65 x 32, image below, which is the size that is currently on the board
So at this time if you would take a look at each of the images in the legends for New Post, Announcements, No New Post, Sticky, and Locked images the size as they are now and try to get a feel for those...
Because I am currently starting over with the original 101 x 50 and shrinking them to 81 x 40 and making all new ones for No New Post, New Post, Announcements, Sticky, and Locked... I see they might change file size from 2.5kb to 3.5kb, is that an issue? They end up that file size if I save them as gif files, png files are larger in size, any advice there? I will be working on these this evening for quite sometime, to also see if there is a feature to make the gif smaller file size too
I will wait until after you've left a reply, and by the next time you come back after viewing all the icons at 65 x 32 , they will be changed to the 81 x 40, so I need you to compare and let me know which size you like best.

I think 65x32px looks just fine. I, too, would have mirrored the image as you did. Those file sizes mean nothing. They are all so tiny. The color of that little car image is very complimentary to the theme colors. Good job, Richard.
.Gif is the best format to save them in. I save nothing as PNG. That format is necessary only for printed material and it is a real resource hog.
I'll look again later after you have put up the bigger ones.

ok, all the bigger images are now in place, 81 x 40, check out all the legends for Threads, New Post, No New Post, Announcement, Sticky, and Locked... Notice in the Legend how much more room I had to add the announcement, sticky, and pad lock...
Let me know what you think and what you're preferences would be...

For size, I like 81x40. Image just has better definition. As a suggestion, I would use a different car for the sticky messages. What you have looks good, but sticky needs to be more quickly identifiable.

ok, you got it, the larger images stay. I'm not sure about another car for sticky, I will look and compare, but I think I like the uniform look with the same car... but I will definitely look into using another car
There are both sticky and regular thread cars here so you can compare the two used together on a board

I sure appreciate your testing and looking things over and giving your opinion on everything here
Now if we could just get some new members

That's cool then, Richard. The Inn should reflect all of your own preferences. It really looks great in here and has the same look and feel of the original. If any of your old members should pop in, they would feel right at home. That's what you want.
